It's been a while.... Detroit update
It has been a long time since I did a news update on the site so here is a little update on our progress with the move to Detroit.
I am writing this from Detroit after spending some of the morning unloading yet another trailer full of stuff from NH in preparation for making the 15 hour drive back to NH on Sunday. I anticipate two or maybe three more trips back and forth to get the bulk of everything moved. Right now the house is 90% moved, but non of the shop equipment has made the trip. We will be using a moving company to relocate the shop, likely in about 4-6 week.
The building in Detroit has not progressed too much over the winter, because of the winter. We did however finally get the initial 3 Radian Heat systems up and running in January. They were actually installed back in October but it took months to get DTE (The Detroit power and gas provider) to install and turn on our massive new meter and gas supply. It was pretty chilly in here until that happened, Over Christmas we installed a Pellet stove in our temporary crash pad which helped a lot.
Spring is now beginning to happen so the target now is to button up work on the property in NH so it can be sold, hopefully quickly. The funds from selling the NH property will be used to initiate the massive project of roof replacement in Detroit, 25k soft of flat roof so its a big and expensive project. We really cannot do much more until that is done.
All but 2 vehicles have been transported to Detroit now which is great. The BMW LS project is still in NH and it needs the underside buttoning up and painting so I can temporarily fit the suspension so it can roll int the trailer and come out here.
Oh yes, we got a new work vehicle and trailer recently. 2015 Mercedes Sprinter 3500, 170 (long wheel base), high top. This is the cool little 2.5L compound turbo diesel with 7 speed trans. It is AWESOME and actually tows the new (to us) 20' enclosed trailer, even when I massively overload both. Plus it gets 25mpg combined (when not towing)
The progress is frustratingly slow, but that should change in the next month once The NH property is on the market and I am in Detroit full time.
Here are some photos for your enjoyment :)
