Detroit Facility Work: September Trip
Well, I made it back to NH after an extended three week trip to Detroit, and I am TIRED!
Another very full and very heavy trailer of stuff moved so we are now about 50% moved to Detroit :)
The goal for this trip was to rennovate the original showroom sufficiently that we could create a temporary apartment to live in over the winter, instead of living in the RV. This was a massive project and very nasty work too.
Step one was to needle scale, wire brush and jet wash the entier 50'x50' steel ceiling and beams, then spray it with a lot of Rustoleum. I cannot begin to tell you just how unpleasant this was, btu now it is doneand it came out great.
Step two was framing, fixing bad framing, adding doors, cleaning out under the staircase and generally getting ready to hang sheetrock.
With the framing complete we moved onto hanging a lot of 5/8" thick 4'x12' firecode sheetrock. This stuff is heavy and the walls are 16' high. Once hung, tape and set and sand and prep for paint. One note here is that we rented a drywall sander and it is the best tool EVER!
Prime and paint.....
Hang doors, install some AC, lots of temporary wiring and plumbing, temporary kitchen.
Relax for an evening and drive home.
