Another Detroit Trip: May-June
I am back from Detroit after another good trip so time for a little Blog update on progress as it has been a while. I am actually headed back there this Friday for another week, but flying out this time.
I spent a good ammount of time in early May sorting stuff in NH and loading up a big trailer and truck for our first real big delivery of stuff trip. This particular trip I focussed on clearing up a bunch of stuff around the NH house that wont be needed there again. With this in mind the trailer got loaded up with the long standing 1990 Audi V8Q project and some of my collection of rare old Audi parts that have been festering in storage. I also took out a lot of things like the snowblower and the lawnmower etc.
All went mostly well on the trip out, other than a few small mechanical issues which pushed the trip a day later than I had planned. I drove out through the US as I did not want to cross the Canadian border with a trailer packed with weird old car parts etc. The drive is about 850miles and took about 14 hours total, not bad really. Note to self for next time though, Avoid Cleveland at rush hour!
So some pictures to go with this story, starting with loading up and heading out.
After making it to Detroit, time to get some work done..... Plan for this trip is to get at least one functional toilet and a functional shower. We are refitting 2 existing bathrooms on the ground floor first. Eventually these will be shop/office facilities, but for now they are THE facilities.
The toilet was easy, the shower took a lot of work. First order of business was cutting concrete, moving and adding drains etc. After that was complete we moved onto building the shower, installing a water heater and a sub pannel to run it.
We could not have done it without Stacy's dad's help, he was AWESOME and can come back any time he likes :)
Also thanks to Rob & Anthony for the loan of the mega tow rig setup.
Oh, and the end result was AWESOME! And Lola likes her new home too.
